Conchords tickets sell out in a minute
TOM HUNT

Last updated 09:41 29/03/2012

More than 1000 presale tickets for the Flight of the Conchords' third Wellington concert sold out within a minute this morning.

Co-promoter Brent Eccles said the sell-out was thought to be in record time, though this could not be confirmed immediately this morning.

Around 1100 presale tickets went on sale to Visa customers this morning.

By 9.01am they were sold out.

A further 300 tickets would be on sale through Ticketek at 9am on Saturday for people buying in person.

And 300 more tickets would go on sale online at 1pm Saturday.

Earlier this week it was announced the smash-hit folk comedy duo had added an extra Wellington show after tickets for 10 gigs around New Zealand were snapped up quickly on Friday.

Tickets for the show in the Michael Fowler Centre on Thursday, June 21 cost $55 to $79.

Comedian Arj Barker, who featured on the Conchords' HBO show, will be the support act.

Extra shows have also been added in Auckland and Christchurch.

So I wasn’t expecting the cast of The Hobbit to be at the Flight of the Conchords concert.

Martin Freeman sat six seats away from me, Richard Armitage, James Nesbitt and Billy Connolly sat in the row in front of us. I’m pretty sure Lee Pace was there as well.

At first we only saw Billy Connolly, but just as the intermission started we saw Martin Freeman and collectively flipped our shit.

During the show, Flight of the Conchords made us sing along to ‘Epileptic Dogs’ and I completely lost it when I saw the cast sing along as well.

In the end I DID manage to actually meet him and say a few words and get a picture with him, but the picture we have is TERRIBLE, but when I get it off my Mother I will post it.

Fandom singing songs from other fandom! #brain#

I'm assuming they didn't sing Frodo (since she didn't mention it), but I bet they would have had a good laugh over it. #love3#

They should have! #haha# Or change the lyrics to "Bilbo, where's the ring?" #lol#

Correct me, if I'm wrong, but I heard/read once Bret saying that FOTC performed at the LOTR wrap party and they played Frodo there. ;D

I had thought of replacing Frodo with Bilbo, but that's better/makes more sense! #lol#

Yeah, I think I remember something like this. #love3#

Comedian Billy connolly, actor and hobbit james nisbett, @ringoslover and I went to see the flight of the conchords in concert tonight - deciding to go incognito we let Billy and James sit up near the front , so we could draw the attention away from them and they could see the concert in peace.

ringoslover Haha! Yes, we ensured the riff-raff kept at a distance!

#haha#

Also, I thought that was Little Red, but think the lighting is playing tricks on me because it's the white one in all the other photos. #lol#
