Oh, I haven't heard the second band! :P

I've chosen this vid because the title reminds me one of the FOTC songs [image]

see esp. "more than this" by roxy music [image] [image] [image]

That was my second choice ;D.

The third was "Love is the Drug" [image] (mind the eye-patch ;) )

yeah - i'm reviewing roxy music/bryan ferry songs on you tube, and i like MANY of their songs! wow. so many i had forgotten about!!

"kiss and tell," "don't stop the dance," and bryan ferry's "slave to love" - takes me back... [image]

ah, air supply.

some good ones = "all out of love," "lost in love," "here i am" oh yes, and "even the nights are better" [image] (prepare yourself, though - they are definitely some of the cheesiest love songs i know... which is why i adore them :) - they're good for karaoke :D )

um. yeah. anyway - this is another thread that i've derailed with my endless string of 80's music references.

I like Tanfastic [image] .

I have always loved Albatrocity [image]

i would guess that the "albatro(ss)" in "albatrocity" is an oblique reference to the band flock of seagulls?

For some reason when I first heard the name Flight of the Conchords I had this odd mental image of a couple of guys dressed in cheesy superhero outfits, hands on hips, capes flapping in the wind, full of their own bravado.

When I first heard their name it was when my brother told me I had to see the show. I had no idea what it was about or that they were a band... my first thought was something about pilots and not expecting to like it. [image]

I've heard there's a photoshopped Batman and Robin pic in L'amour thread? ;D

It was back in August when Comedy Central had that night with all of the specials of people on the show. I had originally been watching it because I was/am a Jim Gaffigan fan. King Baby ended and I had distracted myself with something when One Night Stand came on. I heard, "Flight of the Conchords!" And I distinctly remember being intrigued by their name and looking up to watch. The rest is history.

And why did you name yourselves ''Flight of the Conchords''?
[image] There isn't really a good story. Other than...we shared...a dream. A vision. [Laughs] Jemaine's explanation will be completely different.
[image] It was just, like, a last-minute thing. We had a gig and we didn't have a name. We had to come up with something quickly. We were considering ''Tanfastic.'' Which is the name of a suntan lotion.
