Age Pryor is a fabulous NZ musician who plays with Bret in the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra and also releases his own music collaborating with other great New Zealand musicians. He also contributed songs to the Eagle vs. Shark soundtrack.

He played on the Conchords' Folk the World album, and how can you not love a man who thanks Bret in the "Thanks section" on all of his albums? ;D ;D

Any other Age fans out there who want to talk about his music?

I am (impatiently :) ) waiting for the new Woolshed Sessions album to arrive from New Zealand. I ordered it just after release, but got this response:

"The label distributing the record had run short of stock by the time your order was placed! It seems they hadn't anticipated how popular the release would be."

Yay! - for the increase in popularity of NZ music, even if I do have to wait longer for it to arrive. :(

You can check out some of the tracks from the Woolshed Sessions at their myspace page:

A link to an interesting NZ radio interview with everyone involved in the Woolshed Sessions:

http://www.radionz.co.nz/__data/assets/audio_item/0004/1756948/nrmtalk-20081015-1100-Woolshed_Sessions-wmbr.asx

I loved the introduction with the biscuit talk - it cracked me up. ;D Talk about shades of the biscuit bit in the Bowie episode... ;D With the added bonus of hearing biscuit spoken in an NZ accent... ;D

There are also more sneak peeks of tracks from the new album.

Yay! - some company in the Age thread! :)

Yes, I ordered it from Smoke CDs. It was dispatched on the 30th Oct, so should hopefully be with me by the start of next week (if the postage time is the same as usual from NZ). Not too long to wait...
*fidgets in chair and listens to Waterfall for the umpteenth time while I wait*

;D ;D

P.S. What's your favourite Age Pryor song?

Ok, so this is more of a Bret thing, but the reason I'm posting it here is because one of my friend's comments about it.

"I like the guy on the left that keeps looking into his ukelele like he lost something." heehee ;D

WIUO - "Ziggy Stardust"

TV3 Interview

For some reason, I find his speaking voice hard to understand. ??? Haven't had this problem with other Kiwis...

Aaaaah I LOVE this video. Hadn't noticed that at the side before. Probably because Bret is sitting a few chairs away so it was difficult to focus on anyone else :P

I don't find him difficult to understand but that is quite some listhp ( :D) that he has. I used to have a lisp but it is now mainly hidden so maybe that's why I can understand.

Ok, THAT'S what it is!! He sounded kind of lispy, but I wasn't sure if maybe it was just a slightly different NZ dialect. Thanks for clarifying. :D He's also very soft-spoken! Wouldn't have suspected that. :)

EDIT: OMG. His lisp is the very first thing they talk about. ::) DUR!! :P I promise I'm not really this dense...

Curious Boy is my very very favorite. Eyes Rarely Meet, Shanks' Pony, and Singing in My Soul are my other favorites.

I uploaded the video for Leave it All Behind. :)

Thanks Sam!! ;D :-*
Hadn't seen this one before.

I don't think I've heard enough of Age's stuff to have a qualified opinion on my favourite song but I also really like Shanks' Pony and Singing in My Soul :)
