May 30 & June 1 - Los Angeles, CA

2008 North American tour and all other 2008 gigs here.

by chrissycubana » Wed May 14, 2008 11:17 am

Hi all!
I know it's a couple of weeks away, but I wanted to make sure we had this thread up and running so that everyone going to the L.A. show could get in contact beforehand.

I know for sure Caitlin, Ines, and myself will be at the L.A. show on June 1. Anyone else going?

i think the shows are sold out, but maybe craig's list will show tix closer to the date? where in LA are you?

Leti, if you want, and if you're able to, you could probably just meet up with us after the show to see if you could catch the guys again. Let us know if that might work ;)

Below is what Ticketbastard's "partner," Tickets Now, are asking for Row U in LA.
The mutha*ucks have the balls to add on the $52.50 "service charge" for each $348 ticket.

Flight of the Conchords Orpheum Theatre-Los Angeles
5/30/2008 8:00 PM
Section: ORCH Row: U
Quantity: 2
Each: $348.00
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Subtotal: 2 x $348.00
Service Charge: 2 x $52.20
Shipping: $14.95
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Order Total: $815.35

My neighbor is a scalper (a very successful one, I might sadly add). He said prices actually go down as you get closer to the date. We'll see about that!

Tom Waits' tour was set up w/this anti-scalper method. Didn't SF FOTC sell some tix like this? LA coulda sure used it. Bitch.

for the 2nd sf show they said the first 10 rows will call only, but for some reason they still had the ticketfast option available which is why some scalpers were able to buy them. i don't know if davis hall will honor any tickets that aren't will call though. and i think i read on What the Folk that it's very likely that they're going to check id.

but again, this was only for the first 10 rows. all the other seats were available to scalpers.

but that tom waits plan seems like a pretty good plan! i wish they had used it for this entire tour.

i don't know how ANYONE was able to get multiple seats...caitlin and i had to fight for SINGLE seats! so frustrating. i hate ticketmonster!!! i had hoped the SF method would work, but as we've heard, scalpers struck there as well.

boo to your neighbor, tanfantastic *makes stabbing motions a la psycho towards him/her*

Yeah, I know I bought tix for his show in FL on Friday, and I thought 'why doesn't everyone do this??' But Tom has always worked really hard to keep his tix out of the hands of scalpers. I'm not knocking the guys, because they're hardly the only ones whose tickets can go for crazy prices, but I do wonder why more artists don't take a more proactive stance on this issue.

So apparently Bic Runga is opening for both shows... though it's not set in stone. She plays folk music and is from NZ. :)

Lucky! I looooove Bic Runga. My two favorites of hers are "Drive" and "Sway." I was thrilled to find out that she's actually good friends with the guys. :)
