Thanks! It is the real thing, the same bass as Jemaine's. It was made in The Soviet Union in the 1970s

Thanks! I bought it on ebay for $100 from a seller in Ukraine. It arrived in this bag.

I had to get a new nut and a new bridge but it turned out pretty good.

HI [image] ,

Welcome on the Board! [image]

I love your Dad Guitar [image] . How does it sound? [image]

We've got music section Working the Beat dedicated to practically... the Conchords' music and lyrics. There's also a thread where we decipher what instruments Jemaine and Bret use. As a musician and a FOTC fan, you may be interested in that ;D.

I hope you'll like being here [image] .

ADD

Oh... I've got a La Patrie Motif classical guitar [image] .

Thanks, this one is as close to Jemaine bass as I could find. The only differences are:

Mine has different knobs

a Hofner bridge

a new bone nut

one replaced tuner

Also mine has the the original russian 5-pin DIN jack.Jemaine changed his to standard.

I had to make a chord for it.

Anyway, welcome! [image] It's great to have you here and hope that you find some goodies in the new section and thread that Sylwia/emira mentioned.

In fact, this thread would go perfectly there, so I hope you don't mind if I move it! :D

Sure, that is cool.Actually I looked for a long time for info about Jermaines bass before I found this one.

Sergey from cheesyguitars told me:

"You've got a bass that's called "BAS". Made in Ordjonikidze, USSR. Not particulary rare, and a pretty bad player."

I told Sergey:

"Thanks for the info. Yeah,it is not a good bass, but it is one of the most famous "cheesy guitars" in the world! " lol

Actually since I had my friend Ted Vig make the new nut and fit the bridge it plays pretty good!

My trashy guitar collection. I am not a good player

Actually, I've been wondering for quite a while how a shepherd from New Zealand could get this bass guitar produced in the USSR. What is more, he doesn't know what the Internet is and how it works so he couldn't buy it on eBay (NZ is still in the 70s ;) )... [image]

Yeah... I should find something more interesting to do with my life :P

[image] [image] [image] Now he's probably sorry he didn't take more money for it [image]

I'm a bass and guitar player and I was so tempted so many times with this auction on ebay. [image]

I'm so glad it went to someone who obviously loves it so much - and to a Conchords fan.

It makes me feel better for not buying it now. :) I was also unsure about the beatupness of it from the ebay photos. :)

Looks good. [image]
