You may not know this, but Bret is also a founding member of the Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra! Here are a couple of videos of Bret performing with the WIUO.

( In vid #1 He is second in from the left in the white shirt, in vid #2 i think its obvious, he is the one singing the most, he's 5th from the left...lol)

I didn't really know what to think when I first found out that Bret was in a ukulele orchestra but the more I watch these videos the more I actually like it. It looks like so much fun! :P

I absolutely ADORE them. I bought their EP when it came out and I listen to it daily. They're so wonderful.

I love the Ziggy Stardust video, but my favorite so far is Ten Guitars. Bret's waaaaay too cute in this one.

You can buy their EP here or here. Both places are fantastic.

There are a few more videos of Bret performing with them:

Haere Mai (filmed the same night as Hey Ya)
Haere Mai (Just Bret, Gemma, and Carmel)
Blue Smoke (Just Bret, Gemma, and Carmel)
Medley of songs (filmed the same day as Ziggy Stardust)

Myspace is having all sorts of weird errors tonight. :-/ I'm pretty sure the link is correct. It's hard to tell though when myspace is being stupid. LOL.

For some reason the direct link still isn't working. >:( But this one should work, you can go there and choose Haere Mai.

Heh, I was watching Bret Gives Up the Dream the other night because I wanted a screencap of a specific moment and the "Deluxe Cafe" t-shirt that Bret's wearing finally clicked in my head and it led to the following conversation:

Me: Huh, I never noticed that before.
Husband: What?
Me: Bret's wearing a Deluxe Cafe t-shirt. The Wellington International Ukulele Orchestra plays there on the first Thursday every month.
Husband: ...
Me: What?
Husband: It's tragic that you know that.

Sigh.

There's a new studio session with the WIUO here. Bret's not there ( :( ), but it's still very, very cool.

The setlist:
1. Land of the Long White Cloud
2. The Bucket
3. Road to Nowhere
4. It's a Heartache
5. I Could Never Take the Place of Your Man

It's a Heartache is my personal favorite. :)

They're not stills from the video, they're just pictures of Bret from a few shows they did when he returned to New Zealand late last year.
